Aussie National Champs
Hmmmm where to start, where to start…..Success and Set Back!
Success: Chris finished 4th in a stacked World Class field. A solid effort on a track where every millisecond counts. Although a different top section from the 2009 Worlds track, Mt. Stromlo still provides it’s challenges. Finding flow through the technical top rocks, reaaaallllly fun jumps and a verrrrrrry long sprint to the finish proves that you have to be both skilled and fit. Windy conditions made it more of a challenge and race day turned into a slop fest when the rain just kept coming down more than Canberra has seen in a long while. Nice work Chris, representing our little privateer team!
Set Back: I managed to sustain another injury in Friday’s practice and after feeling like I was riding strong again after collarbone and shoulder injury, I am feeling a bit depressed! I was a victim of the wind in a high speed section where I got blown wide on my line and came in contact with a metal bridge. I did everything I could to try to slow down, even hit the yellow padding(thank god!)but I ended up clipping my bar and left hand, breaking my 5th metacarpal. So I’m back on the healing train, hopefully it won’t be too long. Like I’ve said here, it’s just another set back. Which can only set me up for a come back! 😉
Congrats to Mick and Tracey Hannah for taking the Elite Men and Elite Women titles.
